Nov 2009
After a fantastic 2009 season with so many PB's & lake records, I sit here wondering if you really want hear about me standing in the far margins cutting out the snags, or would you rather see some of our favourite pics from 2009?

Okay, you win.  Here they are, sorry if you are one of the 'idiots' (or unfortunate mortals) to be featured in this Winter Wonderland Special..........but what a laugh!

Don't cry Dan, it's only a small one!

Bend it, shake it, anyway you want it! Our grassies will beat you up!

Remember Joseph Merrick (The Elelphant Man)...take the bucket away, then look again!

Check this space again in December - I'll have some really dodgy photos for you!

Oct 2009

Regular, Jamie, and the lads managed nearly 600lb of fish during the week despite dropping 14 fish in the margins or mid water!  We reckon that 14 fish with an average of 30lbs would have seen the boys go over the 1000lb mark but it was not to be.  However, 2 x 40's graced the banks and we have some of their pics to show you.  Better luck (better rigs) next time!

SEPT 2009

An Indian summer - blue skies, sunshine, high air pressure and cold nights slowed the fishing for the last 2 weeks in September.  Despite this another 3 PBs were broken by Ric's party, including a 45lb 12oz Mirror for Kev.  Here he is with it, it's a shame the photo doesn't do the lump justice ... or the fish!!!

.............................................................................................................................................

Barry's party of 5 had a slow week's fishing and yet still managed to bag 3 PBs!  Afew pics here..........

.........................................................................................................................................

Only half of Scott's party turned up on the Saturday, another joined them mid-week and, due to family and work commitments, they had to leave early.  Doesn't bode well for the fishing, does it?  Despite this they managed to pull out a fair few fish with the average being 28lb+.  Check them out below.  By the way, the last picture is an original stockie that was about 2lb 4 years ago, she weighed in at 15.5lb and is a stunner!

..............................................................
6 new PBs in just one week!

Baz and his crew kept up the good work again, landing 837lb of carp during their week.  This means that 1901lb has graced the bank in just two weeks!  Their haul included 5 x 30s in just one night!  More 30s, numerous 20s, 2 x Grassies and a 40+ Mirror for Tom! 6 PBs in all, and another top result for the Lake Specials.  Some good pics again fellas.  We'll start with Tom's 40!!

See you next year, guys!
........................................................................
BIG NEWS, READ ALL ABOUT IT!>>>........
1 week, 4 anglers, 5 x 40's, TOTAL CATCH OF
                        1064 lbs!
Will, Matt, Tim & Rob had a fantastic week that started on the first night with Will landing
a 44lb 7oz Mirror, and between them, they didn't stop hauling! 39 fish in all, including 5 x 40's, 7 x 30's and lots of upper 20's. As the lads left, they did a little victory dance!

 For Victory dance Click here

When they left, they thought they had done 1028lbs, but I did a re-count, including the ounces .... you caught more than you thought fellas! We don't have room for all the pics, but have a look at this little lot....................

Did you spot the biggies? Well done lads!

AUGUST 2009

Now, I've been fishing for many many years and when I find a good feature to fish to, thats generally what I do.  I am always willing to learn new ways of doing things but what the **** is this all about? .....Find a feature, swim to it, then pretend you're synchronised olympic
swimmers?  What some people will do to get on our web site!

Antics aside, 4 new PBs were achieved during the week, a few of the pictures are shown below....Well done fellas.

......................................................................................................................................

Malcolm, Amelia, Sean & Erin had some fantastic weather and some pretty good fishing.
Malcolm & his son, Sean pulled out 33 fish between them including 6 x 30's all falling for
the lake specials.
Looks like Sean is a bit good with the camera - no cropping here!

Several Pbs broken during the week including this long grass carp, below right.

See you next year for some more PB's!

...............................................................................................................................

Grahams party certainly managed to put some proper lumps on the bank
but so far we only have these pics to show you.  Lets have the others fellas -
email them over and we will put them on this page!

.........................................................................................................................................

Chris returned to Lac de Paix to chase another PB, bringing Stuart with him.  The 2 of them enjoyed the luxury of having the entire lake to themselves!

Chris (below left) pulled in several nice fish to 32.5 lbs, which meant he got the PB he was
looking for. Stuart missed his PB by just a few lbs but determined to come back next year for one of the 40's with his name on it!

...........................................................................................................................................
John sent some more pics from earlier in the season...A new PB at 37.5lbs. Nice!
And a lump of a Common. Roll on 2010!
............................................................................................................................................
JULY 2009

We do like a good CRACK at Lac de Paix, so here is a SPOT THE DIFFERENCE COMPETION.

No prizes for this one - we think it's a bit easy!

Anyway, these fellas had a few fish with every fish caught for Mike being a PB!  Dean also landed a new PB, a mint 37lb common.  He actually thought the net was caught on something when he tried to lift it out of the water - only to realise the fish was heavier than he first thought!

Here are Simon, Dean & Mike with a few of their catch - well done lads. See you next year!

...........................................................................................................................................

So, what's been happening in July?  And why have I not updated the web site for 3 weeks?
Those of you that have fished at Lac de Paix over the last few months will have seen me in a great deal of pain. This was diagnosed as a double herniated disc in my lower back, so after an operation and hospital stay....I'm back on form - well, nearly!

I have to say that the standard of photography during July has not been of David Bailey standard.  In fact, some of it was so bad we were thinking of giving a prize for the worst ever fish photos!  Other anglers turned up with something called a 35mm camera, I didn't know they still existed! Consequently we could not copy the pictures to put on the web site.

However, regulars, Karl, Steve, Dave & Dan were able to provide some excellent pics. and Karl will be sending plenty more on disc, so you will see these soon as well.

Dave is proving to be a bit flash, last time he was here he had the lake record Common (but only held the record for a few days!) This time he pulled in a cracking PB 43.5lb Mirror, below.

Karl was up to his usual tricks, pulling out more carp than anyone else and was able to do this cracking brace shot with Dave.  Also during the week, Karl pulled out his old friends, Pug Face AND Short Tail amongst others.

Steve was grassie king for the week with two of the three grass carp caught and both almost exactly 34lbs! This did result in 3 landing nets being terminally busted! Pics to follow soon.
 .......................................................................................................................................

JUNE 2009

In our last update we promised to show you the 'Big Fish Birthday Rig' fish that lake regular, Daz, caught on his last night's fishing - as this was the biggest he had during the week we decided we had better post here!  The only thing is, I can't remember if it was your 36th birthday and the fish was 37lbs - or the other way around?

Anyway, nice fish and you're still younger than me either way!

More updates coming soon!

We are now in the last week of June, and the fishing has been fairly erratic since Steve and co took the lake apart immediatly after spawning.  The last few weeks have shown that by paying particular attention to end tackle, runs can be turned into fish on the bank. Simple blow back rigs are proving to be the way to go.

Darren and his crew, on their second trip to Lac de Paix managed to tickle out several fine specimins with Steve getting a PB grass carp, Ryan (age 11) catching his first ever French carp and Darren missing his PB buy just 1lb with a cracking mirror - photo to follow soon!  Darren still had this cracking common from 2008 on his camera that we forgot to show last year, so here it is!

Have you ever tried getting a good shot of a grass carp? This is how to do it!

N.B. I know there is nothing wrong with your rigs Darren, but I was chuffed to find out that the 36lb mirror you had on the last night came out on the 'Big Fish Birthday Rig' I tied for you!

...................................................................................................................................

Okay Steve, you flash git.......... 455lbs, individual catch in just one week! Well done mate. I'm not sure I could top that.  Steve went for the flying start - 16 fish in the first 48 hours! This included 2 x 40's, followed later in the week by a 39.12lb mirror.  If they hadn't just spawned all would have been 2 - 4 lb heavier.

I haven't checked, but I think he had 7 x 30's in all.

Peter is shown here beating his PB of 22lbs with this stunning 40lb mirror (above right)
nice one! Welcome to the Lac de Paix 40 club!

Iain & David managed to pull a few lumps out, taking their total catch for the week
to 800lbs. Sweet.

Look at the common Steve has here (below right). See the kisser on that!!  And that
fish by Steve's standards is a small one!

Looks like I've put Peter's 40 on twice - worth a second look though!
See you again fellas.

MAY 2009

Every angler wants to see the fish crashing out, and boy, did they?! They came on to spawn this week and did not make their whereabouts a secret.  All night long the margins were awash with the magical sound of spawning.  Was the fishing harder than usual?  Yes! But despite facing the challenge of putting a fish on the bank, Dennis smashed his PB by a considerable margin with this corker below, weighing in at 31lbs 8oz.

Here he is again, waiting for another bite............zzzzzzzz

Ray didn't manage a new PB but did catch this lovely mirror at 36lbs. The picture does not do the fish justice; but like myself Ray suffers from a bad back and was happy to have any photo!

Paul spent the week in his element fishing for tench on a waggler in the stock pond, the biggest going 5lb+. A very happy man.

Alf had several fish including this very pretty common.

See you all in April 2010. (P.S thanks for leaving the lodge tidy......you are welcome back!)

...........................................................................................................................................

A big thank you to John who took some fantastic pictures for us to use for the lake and swim pages on the web site, he has more to come apparently including his own PB of 38lbs caught on the last night.  Below, Rich with his new PB of exactly 40lb. Not over, not under: we double checked the scales - and they were Ruben's!

Rich and Ash had a pretty good week by anyone's standards - just showing off we think! Kev and John had to work for their fish but both still managed to smash their PBs and this is the 4th time they have been to Lac de Paix.

Ash with two of his impressive haul

Barry - just a little damp after a a silly o'clock fight with this mirror in a torrential rain storm. And right, Kev with his new PB - Not sure why his tongue is out though?

.............................................................................................................................................

I've got a story for you.....
But first, well done to Alan and Arthur who regrettably had to finish their week on Thursday for personal reasons.  Despite the fact that they only had 4 days fishing they both had a cracking result.  Alan kicked off with 2 x 40's beating his PB twice and then followed the rest of the week with numerous 20's & 30's.  Arthur had a 42lb fish last time they were here, so was happy to let Alan have the fame this time! All the same, not a bad result for you either Arthur!  4 days, 2 anglers - 41, 40, 34, 15, 34, 11, 34, 20, 24, 30, 34, 28, 21, 32, 17. That's 2 forties, 6 thirties, 4 twenties & 3 doubles. (No photos as these boys had to dash).

Now my story:  3pm, 2 hours to kill before picking the kids up from school.  A bit of Tench fishing I think.  Head off to stock pond with the following:

1.75 test curve rod
I x Shimano 5010
6lb line
Size 12 hook
1 x 3BB waggler
1 tin of sweetcorn

Result: 1 tench of about 3lbs, lovely, and 1 carp of 33.5lbs, LOVLIER!!!  See below.

N.B. Even after a 25 minute scrap, I still made it to the school on time!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Message from the lads to party leader, Carl .....

James stuffed his dad's PB Common.  This fish of 41lb 2oz meant that his dad only held the lake record common overnight and James has now landed the largest common to date.  Congratulations, mate!

Look at the gut on that!  The fish is pretty big too!  44lbs to be exact - Well in, Andrew!
(Sorry I got your name wrong!)

Carl tried to catch a 40 'and be in the club' but could only manage a really
small common of ONLY 39lb 6oz. Pathetic.  MUST TRY HARDER!

For the first few days they did their own thing but all confessed to being novices - one angler missed 7 runs in a row!   The Gaffer gave advice on rigs and tactics (and a few casting lessons)and that very evening the week turned around and "it all went ballistic!"  Gareth beat his PB by 27lb with a 44lb Mirror and they were less than 5 minutes away from a brace of forties!!  See you next year guys!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

APRIL 2009

Mitch, Jay, James, Dan & Corey will be really p*d off when they see this weeks catch
report!  (Coming this weekend - when they stop catching and go home!) Despite catching lots of 30's and beating at least 3 pbs last week, the 40's evaded their best attempts.

However - size is not everything!  (At last I believe you, Sheridan!!) Even though Corey 'lost his head' this common of 25lbs is the Marilyn Monroe of the carp world..........

Pale, sexy, gorgeously defined and full of good things to come .... what more could you   want? A pure diamond of a fish!!  Perfect in every way.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott, Pete, Carl, Dale & Roy by all accounts achieved their goals.......PB followed by PB!
By the end of the week, 4 of the 5 had smashed their PBs time and again, I acctually lost
count!  To mark the occasion, all were given a bottle of bubbly to celebrate.

Dale not only smashed his PB but also
had this cracking grass carp (below)
Well done mate!

Nice to see 30lb + commons on the bank during daylight hours!

We look forward to seeing you in April 2010!
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lake regular Jamie caught the first grassie of the season - nice one, mate.  See you in October.  He also caught this cracker below, one of several fish he had out during the week.

Another member of Jamie's party, Steve, broke his pb of 28lb with this corking common which weighed in at 32lb. Get a PB and we'll put on the web site!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Peter, Karl, Steve and Dave have just finished Pete's Week.  A slow start to the week but things soon picked up and the average size of fish on the bank was well over 30lb!

Dave caught a stunning common at 38lb 12oz - the largest common landed so far!!

Earlier in the week he also broke his PB with this 32lb mirror so went home a happy chap!    Well done, Dave!!

Not to be outdone, Karl landed this impressive lump!  The lads are back in October and Dave will be aiming for the lake record mirror, which we think will top 50lb!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

31st March - THE SEASON IS OPEN!  And what a start...... Tony, Rob, Steve & Mark arrived on Saturday afternoon. I spent a few hours with them talking them through the swims.  I left the lake at 4ish and returned at 9am Sunday. Here is how the conversation went..........

Me: Hi Tony, hows it going?
Tony:  That B*****D over there is 'aving it right off!
Me: What has he had?
Tony: Can't remember, but he kept waking me up all night......

(I walk to Mark's swim)

Me: You had a few then Mark?
Mark: Yes mate, I had a 41 half an hour after you left, a 39 at midnight, a 37 at 4am and a 28 just before breakfast......... thats 145Lbs of carp in 17 hours! And Steve has kicked off with a good double......

Me: Nice one, keep it up! (or something like that!)

It's now Tuesday, I am about to go out and find out how many more they have had.
One of Tony's 30's
  And another............

In true scarper carper tradition, all these fish are minters!

Both Rob & Steve had new PB's. Hope to see you again next year guys!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, Barry - you wanted an update ..... here it is!

After refurbishing the lodge, upgrading the plumbing and electrics, painting (inside and out), putting in guttering, rebuilding the BBQ, improving the shower etc etc I woke up this morning and decided to go fishing!!  I dropped the kids off at school and set off to the lake.  After tying a few rigs I set myself up in Home Run.

I cast all three rods out to the far margin and just 45 minutes later had a screaming run and landed a 32lb Mirror - one of the stock we hand selected at the end of last year .....and the first fish from Lac de Paix of 2009!

As promised in our last update, here is a picture of our new swim - Bodgers.

And just to to get you all really in the mood I saw a 40+lb Mirror (still with some winter colours) roll twice and crash out - clearing the water just 20m from this swim!  Ask me nicely and I might tell you exactly where!!

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Peter

PS The only availability we have remaining in 2009 is October. We are already taking bookings for 2010.

January and February 2009

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We are pleased to announce a new swim for 2009. We've created it down near Badger's Bottom so decided to call it Bodgers! It will make Badger's a little more sociable and give the chance to fish to the open water between Badger's and Paddy's Pads.

Lots of trees have been taken out to clear the edges of the swims and some overhangs taken out on the far bank to give easier access for baiting and stalking. Peter is also busy rebuilding the barbecue, fitting a new worktop in the lodge, moving the woodpile and painting the lodge inside and out – weather permitting!

Bookings are going very well again this year and we have very limited availability for the season. Call asap to secure one of the last remaining weeks for 2009.

Currently available are:

11th April (due to cancellation) Best be quick on this one!

18th & 25th July.
3rd October.

Call Peter on 077 88 55 2045.

The 2010 booking chart is now open - Get in early to have a better choice of weeks.

We have taken the plunge and moved over here permanently, please note our new address on the booking form etc. Correspondence will reach us with 2 First Class stamps if you can't be bothered to get it weighed at the Post Office! The move also means that Peter 'The Gaffer' will be your full time bailiff so plenty more opportunities to pick his brains.

Pictures of the new swim will be available once the snow has gone and the lake thaws out! Watch this space............

September and October 2008

We continued to have a great season over here at Lac de Paix. Another party of regulars, Bob & co, had a great week with almost 700lb of prime carp on the bank, Bob alone had nigh on 300lb! Five anglers, 5 PBs, and loadsa fish up to 38,8. We gave away so many bottles of bubbly we were losing count!! There was a cracking mix of commons, mirrors - and grassies. Here are a couple of pics for you - there are loads more in the gallery. Look forward to seeing you next year chaps - especially as it’s Alan’s special birthday celebration. You must be looking forward to turning 21 chuck!

You’ll also find other pictures from our latter season parties.

2009 is booking well although there is still some availability.

Over the winter we will be carrying out the usual maintenance as well as cutting back some of the larger branches and overhangs. Pete’s team are gearing up for a few long weekends of hard graft.

August 2008

We’ve welcomed back many familiar faces and met several new parties and thus far had a very interesting mix of anglers. We’ve also had some very interesting experiences - none more so than when we saw the return of The Norfolk Crew ….. now known as The Naked Norfolk Carp Crew! We kid you not!! Dave and his posse were here again this year but this time it was for Dave’s stag week, and what a week it was!! Just check out the pics below - naked cycling, naked casting, naked fishing, naked lawn mowing (courtesy of The Gaffer himself), naked fishing, naked sprinting, naked rowing and not forgetting the naked chocolate eating. Now, you may notice that there are more photos of Dan naked than anyone else - he just couldn’t resist getting his kit off at any opportunity! When the groom-to-be crashed out after Peter plied him with copious amount of beer, the guys wrapped his bivvy in police tape - Dave remained comatose and noticed nothing for 12 hours!! I think the look on Dan’s face in the last shot sums proceedings up pretty well! See you next year guys. All good wishes to Dave and Nadine for the wedding - if she’ll still have you!!!! Oh and by the way, they did do some fishing and managed to break a couple of PB’s to boot!

Another party to have a good week were Paul & co. As you can see from the pictures they landed a 41.5lb mirror as well as grassies and this absolutely stunning double. Definitely one to keep an eye on in the future! Sorry it’s taken a while to get you on here guys but better late than never!!

MAY 2008

Many of you will have noticed that our regular news updates have not been so regular lately! We’ve had major Techno Grief which has culminated in an extra 80 GB added to the desktop, and in the same week the laptop died and needed a new hard drive! Both are back, and after ironing out the niggles, we are back on track with updates.

Talking of which …

May and June 08

Mark, Sam, Dean & Ronnie - you guys are a bit nuts! What a week though; Dean did 3 PBs on the first night and they were all 30’s. Show off!! Don’t forget to send us your pictures guys.

The ‘Black Country Carp Crew’ had over 500lb in their week including 4 PBs. They “can’t wait to get back next year”. See you in June ‘09 chaps!

Chris and Craig both smashed their PBs. Chris started with a PB of 28lb. On the first night he landed a 36lb common and a 42lb mirror! Craig only had one fish smaller than his previous PB of 28lb and that was 25lb. All the rest were 30’s up to 36lb and a catfish at 48lb. Well done fellas!!

40lb fish are now a regular sight with more on the bank in May than ever before. Roll on the first 50!!

April 08

The first week of the season has already come and gone. Only half the party turned up which meant that Mark & Simon had the lake to themselves. They both decided to fish from the far end of the lake, in Crumblie Corner and Marsh End. Within 24 hours Simon had beaten his PB with a cracking 34lb Common - a happy chappy! Several 20's followed including a 28lb stalked on a piece of corn! Not bad considering 2 inches of snow fell a few days earlier!

During the week the weather was varied and at times pretty chilly, however, Spring is in the air and we’re expecting the fish to really switch on in the next week or two. As they say ….’Watch this space!’

March 08
As planned the lads turned up late on the Thursday night ready for a weekend of hard graft. A full fry up was served early on the Friday and shortly after we were faced with 20 tonnes of gravel to shift. Within hours, the path between Badgers and Paddy’s started to take shape and by lunchtime it was complete! With the path down, the next job was to take advantage of the low water level (12 inches down for the Saturday netting) and get into the water on the far margins and remove what turned out to be an underwater forest of roots and branches along the entire length of the lake. This as you can imagine took us into Saturday morning. If anyone would like last year's rig back please call me!

The phone call came from Andy, he was in the lorry with the fish for delivery and just 20 minutes away. Those of us that had taken our waders off, climbed back into them. The lorry arrived and before the new stock was introduced to the lake we had to lay the net and start the pull on the existing stock. Several hours later the 200 metre net had been swept across the lake and we were ready for the final pull. Now was the time to get the new stock off the lorry and behind the net. The smallest fished stocked was 28lbs and most were over 30 with several between 38 & 44lbs!  25 fish were stocked in all, a 50 is very likely this season! WOW!

Back to the netting - with so many fish in such a confined area it was important to keep the lead line as low in the margin as possible, a few fish cleared the net and at least one large common of 30lbs + also evaded capture between Karl’s legs (the first gorgeous girl to do so??!). The sorting began in earnest. By this time it was well and truly dark. The 500w site light was running and, along with the car headlights, illuminated our work. Fish after fish came from the pocket of the net. 14 singles were relocated to the stock ponds and the plan was to remove the roach, but few were netted as the Cormorants had had their fill whilst on their annual winter visit. We left 35 doubles in the main lake to grow on. 110 fish of 20lbs or more were recorded – up to 47lbs.
The big cat evaded capture, the probability is that the lead line swept over its head, so we still don’t know how big its grown as it was last caught in September 2006, and it was just under the 50lb mark then. 60lbs? 70lbs? Catch it and get a case of beer from me!

We hope you’re all dusting off your gear and looking forward to a new season – we certainly know we are!

February 08
At last we have a date for the latest delivery of carp and the netting of the lake.  It's all happening on Friday 29th February so make sure you visit the website for the March update.  Joining The Gaffer in the working party will be Merv le Swerve, Karly Boy, Steve and Leon.  Sheridan will be recording the weights of all the fish, Pops will be taking pics and Muzz will be supplying the tea and bacon butties.  Terry - if you're reading this get in touch mate!
Due to a cancellation the LAST AVAILABLE holiday this summer is week commencing 19th July, just to remind you the DVD was recorded in July - and the lake fished really well in glorious weather.  The only other weeks we have this season are in October.  Don't forget we're taking bookings for 2009.

January 08
Some sad news this month I'm afraid.  Our long time friend Henrietta, Queen of Lac de Paix, has not been seen for several weeks.  Although previous excursions have taken her away for a few days at a time, we feel that 4 weeks is too long to expect any good news. Inevitably a fox has got into the complex occasionally and if that's the case we hope he choked on her!!

Henrietta: Unknown to 25/12/2007.  RIP.

Now for the good news. It was mentioned by more than one of you that Ronnie Row needed a platform closer to the water for the landing and returning of the fish.  As always, we took your views on board and you lucky anglers have been provided with just that! Also, just to make sure that fewer anglers, (including me) go ar*e over t*t in 2008 we have put a wire mesh on all the boarding to provide some grip when its wet.

Looks tempting - especially as the fish started crashing out as soon as the ice melted!

Winter 07/08
Happy New Year! Here we are, another year gone -it went a bit quickly, didn't it? Or is it just us?! Christmas in France was a bit on the chilly side. Temperatures dipped to -6C, still not as cold as the 05/06 winter but cold enough to put 4" of ice on the lake overnight! Take a look at this picture taken a few days before Christmas - can you see on the left of the picture a small glacier running into the water? This is produced by the natural springs that freeze on contact with the air - another strange phenomenon at Lac de Paix!

The white on the ground is 'just' a ground frost, no snow as yet. As soon as the lake thaws out, and it does fairly quickly once the wind changes direction, the fish delivery and netting will take place. This imminent stocking will take stock levels to over 3 tons - not bad for a 5 acre lake! Most of the fish ordered are over 30lbs and several will top 40lbs. Watch this space over the next month or so to see exactly what additional stock we put in. During the netting we will remove a quantity of roach to ensure that existing and newly stocked carp continue to grow.

We only have a handful of weeks left for 2008 so get in quick if you haven't booked yet.

2009 bookings are also now being taken. If you book your 2009 holiday before 1st April 2008 we will guarantee the 2006, 2007 & 2008 price of just £1000 per week.

Call Peter on 077 88 55 2045 for availbility.

September 2007
Another Lac de Paix first this month. Jamie was fishing from Home Run and bagged 3 fish within 20 minutes - one rod screaming after another, and as if that were not amazing enough his haul consisted of a Mirror, a Common AND a Grassy. We’ve never seen it before - 3 fish in 20 minutes, and 3 different carp species to boot! Check out the pictures. This fabulous result followed Jamie smashing his PB by 20lbs on his first night - not a bad week I’m sure you’ll agree!! Well done Jamie. Hope you enjoyed the bubbly.

This month has also seen Steve smash his PB within 24 hours of arriving with this 36.5lb mirror

For those of you still deciding when to book for next year - you’d best get in quick! We have just 3 weeks available until mid July and have sold over a third of the available weeks already. And we’ve taken a booking for 2009!!

August 2007

Here's a lake 1st - during the first week in August the anglers lit the fire in the lodge to keep warm! I'm not kidding either, the winter thermals came out and the wind chill made it genuinely cold for the time of year.  Those of you that have seen our DVD will be aware that temperatures are normally around 30*c + in July & August.

What else has happened? Well, last year we ran a competition in Crafty Carper and the winner, Alan, decided to have the lake to himself for the week, well - almost, he decided to bring some company along! We've sneaked in a 'bonus' shot for you! Again a mixed week weather wise, but Alan still managed to tickle some fish out including his first ever grass carp.

Send us your pics Alan - we'll put them here!

Arthur earned himself a bottle of prize bubbly for his 42lb 12oz mirror shown below.  By all accounts he was lucky not to get thown in by his party members - his 'Big Fish Thursday' lump topped off a very successful week for Arthur - he couldn't stop catching!

June/July 2007

First off we would like to apologise for not updating the website for several weeks. In our defence we would like to say that a) it s a VERY busy time of year, as we re sure you will appreciate, b) we ve just bought a house in France which has all been a bit mad and c) we ve had major technogrief with the laptop! Ruddy eck!! If you have forgiven us then please read on and find out what has been going on at the lake.

The weather in France has been as wet as in England, however, thanks to the hard work put in over the winter the gravel swims have held out and we no longer have any mud problems! Water levels remain high with a good ph level - the condition of the fish remains as stunning as ever.

The fish in the main lake have spawned three times the first time in March/April - almost 8 weeks of unbroken sunshine! The fish in one of the stock ponds were spawning as recently as two weeks ago. The fish seem to have been as confused with the weather as we all have been!

Tims party are there this week and got off to a great start. Within 48 hours of arriving they had landed a few doubles, a load of twenties and 2 thirties to 38lbs. Keith smashed his PB by 10lbs! By all accounts they are still catching well so watch this space! Thanks to new computer bolt-ons, we've got these pics on the web site only 72 hours after they started fishing - they've got the rest of the week yet!

Here s a picture of Keith with his 38lb 6oz Mirror on his first night! This is what happens when you use the MAD 4 Lake specials! Tims party had 4 bait packs waiting for them on arrival (64kg) then on day 3 they purchased another 20kg of the hemp pellet and fatal attraction!  Check out our bait offers here http://www.scarper-carper.co.uk/news2.htm

We've had a promise from Scott (he fished with Dave a few weeks ago) to send us the vidio clip of Dave getting slapped about by a 26lb Grass carp.  I am sure all of you would like to see it!  COME ON SCOTT - send it to me and we'll put it on the web site!!!

If you're thinking about coming in 2008 call us for an info pack and FREE DVD.  We are delighted that 5 parties that have fished this year are returning next year - book now whilst we still have availability for 2008. 077 88 55 2045.

May 2007
What about this then! Despite the fish spawning on and off over the the week or so Martin managed a 17 fish haul topped by this 39lb 12oz mirror. Martin is a top angler and field tester for SBS baits.  The weather was not kind, it rained every day, sometimes torrentially but we reckon this adds to the fun - after all, it is warm rain!  Thanks for for your compliments Martin - we too think Merv 'Le Swerv' is a top bailiff - and pretty good with the barbecue as well!

May has been an odd month with a mixed bag regarding both the weather and the fishing.  The fish have spawned twice already and daytime temperatures have ranged from 10 to 25 degrees!  Check out the gallery to see some of the fine specimens that have been out so far this season.  This is just a sample as we're still waiting for photos to be sent to us - COME ON CHAPS!!

Ian's party banged out a few including this cracking 39lb mirror!

The other main news this month is that we have another new bailiff!  Merv 'Le Swerv' has joined the team.  It means we now have an English bailiff onsite all the time.  He'll certainly look after you and is happy to give any advice and tips.  This guy knows the water almost as well as The Gaffer!  (Hhmm, Peter says that may be so but he's yet to be outfished by Le Swerv!!)

April 2007

What a flying start to the season that was! Over 3000lbs of fish caught in 4 weeks. Numerous 20's, 30's by the dozen and some 40's thrown in for good measure.  The biggest surprise has been the number of 30+ Commons coming out with one party adding 5 hard fighting Grass Carp to their weekly catch, one of which jumped the net - clearing the water by about 3 feet!

Well done to Matt who despite breaking down en route managed to bank 3 PB's in 36 hours including this cracking Common (left). Josh was the first to get wet for a photo shoot - but with the fantastic weather, who can blame him?!

March 2007

30th March.  We got back from the lake last night after getting the complex ready for the
start of the season - and fishing!  Although the weather was against us I managed to
bank 6 x 20s and 3 x 30s, the other lads are still there.  Terry 'The Boots' christened his swim in true style - well done Terry!  Since our return we've heard that Le Swerve has had a brace of 20s and Karly Boy has netted a 29lb stunner.  Keep at it chaps - we want news of a 40 before Saturday!!  Here's a picture of the ugly mugs who have helped get the venue ready for this year and have enjoyed a week's fishing as their reward.  From left to right Peter 'The Gaffer', Merv 'Le Swerve', Karly 'Boy' and in the front 'The Robster' and Terry 'The Boots' ... next to that motley crew are a couple of bonus pics to whet your appetite!  Me with 'Dotty' and 'Pug Face'.

MAD4 - BIG BAG BAITS

Q. 4 complimentary baits . Why?

2. Sinking carp pellet - high value feed developed for the fish farmer, with a high protein & vitamin content.

3. Fizzy Hemp Pellet - a natural attraction method.

4. Fatal Attraction - a blended red mist attractor.

Q. Why use all the products at the same time?

A. When using boilies, ensure the quality - MAD4 do. The combination of pellets provides both natural and manufactured attractors in addition to the high food value content of the sinking carp pellet.

Q. Why have you had the baits endorsed by your veterinary consultant?

A. This is an assurance to our customers that only the best available ingredients are used in the bait manufacturing process.

Q. Why has scarper carper launched its own bait range?

A. As lake owners and fishery managers the health and well being of our fish is paramount. This way we can ensure that top quality baits and feed are being introduced to our water, as well as to venues throughout the UK.

Q. Where can we purchase MAD4 products from in the UK?

A. The entire MAD4 range is available via mail order at Brundall Angling http://www.brundallangling.com/ or in store, or at a tackle shop near you soon.

Whilst you're at it, check out the new 2007 Nash range here! http://www.brundallangling.com/nash_tackle/index.html

January 2007

A number of our 2006 anglers are coming back in 2007, we look forward to seeing you all!  Here are a few of them with their catches from 2006. We can't show all of you, or all of your fish - we don't have enough room!

OOPS! Sheridan has just pointed out that Matt is coming back in 2008! Good luck with the cycling in 2007 Matt, it might stop you from fishing this year but look on the bright side - you can come back with another world record!

The latest stocking of fish, we reported on in December - around 1000lbs in total, were all upper 20's and 30's.  This on top of existing stock.  Don't expect to get much sleep chaps - we want you to go home exhausted!  Unless of course, like Horace (who is also coming back in 2007) you reel in at night and still manage to out fish most of the others.  Horace was keen to point out that he did this without use of a bait boat. Nice one, H!

Some of you pointed out that a few of the swims got 'a bit damp' when it rained.  You will be glad to know that we have resolved this problem with several tons of gravel. The worst offender was 'Badgers Bottom'; here we have built a proper swim to match the others - no more wet feet! Check this out, don't fight over it lads!
Looks tempting, doesn't it?  See the tree on the right next to the decking? Try a bait just 20 feet beyond it on the gravel bar............... Not to mention the lillies, the margins, the reeds and the deep hole - for those of you that can find it!

Check out the rest of the swims including 'The Boots' our new one for 2007 by clicking on this link: http://www.scarper-carper.co.uk/gallery-swims.htm

If you haven't already booked for 2007 be quick - weeks are going rapidly!

December 2006

You know how good the fishing was in 2006, well - WE HAVE JUST PUT ANOTHER 1000lbs OF FISH IN THE LAKE!! Fancy a crack at some virgin fish in 2007?!!!

Christmas is coming and Henrietta's getting fat - must be all those boilies you fed her during the season!  (She's our resident goose for those who don't know.)  Don't worry lads, Sheridan said we're having duck for Christmas!

What's new? You've got a real treat in store with our 2007 baits. The highly acclaimed protein packed Platinum Claw will be available on site and as part of the MAD4 scarper carper bait pack - simply order with your final balance payment.  To see the results this bait has already achieved, click on the link below.  http://www.brundallangling.com/platinum_claw/index.html

The new MAD4 Shellfish boilie has been designed with France in mind where high nutrition is of paramount importance  The growth rates for the carp at Lac de Paix in 2007 are likely to exceed even those seen in 2006.  For those who have watched the DVD, Jason Payne proudly presents a 36lb Mirror - this fish was caught again 6 weeks after filming and weighed in at 39lbs 3oz.  Well done Leighton!

Gav hit Lac de Paix for the second time in 2006 and caught one of the stunning 40lb + fish in the lake.  The lake record stands at 47lbs and Gav reckons that he will be the first to get a 50lb specimen in 2007. (He's already provisionally booked for next year - so we think he has a chance! Confirm your date quickly mate!) Gav uses the lake special pellets that have accounted for well over 85% of the fish caught this season.  Make sure you use them on your trip!

WORLD RECORD HOLDER LANDS NEW PB AT LAC DE PAIX

Matt Plested, national and world champion paralympic cyclist, (Picture on left) smashed his personal best on a recent trip to scarper carper s Lac de Paix.  The 32 year old from Reading , Berkshire enjoyed a relaxing week with friends before his grueling training continues in Cyprus and Australia .  His biggest lump was a mid 30 mirror.

Between the three of them they landed almost 400lb of stunners, including the big cat! Bob Bellini caught the moggy and was ably assisted by Simon Raglan as shown here (on right).  Well done lads, and good luck to Matt from scarper carper. See the gallery for more pictures from Matts week.

Karly Boy and Gary were not the only ones to get wet during filming - with water temperatures at 28C we all wanted to be thrown in!
